The Date: July 1969 The Place: The Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Site
I have fought many battles down through the centuries against the evil Thraxcian Empire. The Traxcians are a star-faring race of giant mutant insects that mankind will encounter in the year 2627 on the far side of the galaxy. With their strange group-mind organization, they see everyone as an opponent that must be subjugated or destroyed. After years of attempting to find a peaceful means of coexisting, it ultimately became neccesary to wipe them out. However shortly before the final destruction of their homeworld, a small group of their scientists managed to develop a time travel device allowing them to escape back into history. Since they blamed mankind for the end of their civilization they intended to use the time machine to prevent mankind from developing space travel.
The Traxcians made three attempts to derail the US space effort during the Apollo Moon Program. With the Apollo 1 fire and Apollo 13 mishap they met with partial success. The third incident involving the Apollo 11 mission was never made public as my GTC team managed to arrive on the moon in time to prevent the accident. The Traxcians were experts at arranging sabotage to look like mechanical failure. In this case they had installed an explosive bolt in one of the landing struts of the Lunar Module with a timer to cause the strut to collapse while the astronauts were on a moonwalk. This would leave the astronauts stranded to died slowly when their oxygen ran out with the whole incident televised to the world.
Fortunately the GTC was able to backtrack the events through time and determine the cause. Therefore I was sent to the moon with necessary equipment to make repairs. I have this one picture as a momento, otherwise extreme care was taken to avoid sending any video, film, or still photos back to earth showing my trooper parked next to the Lunar Module.
